Offbeat Riding Safaris

Offbeat Riding Safaris have been operating since 1990 and has become well known for being one of the leading mobile Riding Safari companies in Africa. Viewing wildlife from the back of a horse has been described by many people as a life changing experience.   If you are a rider, there is simply no better way to see wildlife in its natural habitat without the noise or pollution of a safari vehicle only leaving hoof prints as opposed to tyre tracks and we are able to reach areas that vehicles are not able to access.

Wildlife is plentiful in all the areas that we ride and your guide is highly knowledgeable and conversant with the habits and likely reactions of big game, elephant, buffalo, hippo and lion have to be approached with caution but provide many memorable close encounters along with a variety of wildlife it is of course important that our guests are experienced riders.

Having a minimal impact on the environment is an important factor and we pride ourselves in leaving the camps we use as pristine as we find them.

We have scheduled 7 night set departures and Tailor-made safaris which run from December to March and June to October (April/May and November are closed season as this is when we generally have rain).
Our trips run with a minimum of 5 people and a maximum of 12 people. Tailor made bespoke safaris can also be organized for those wishing for a more private experience, for a minimum of 5 nights.

Our mobile tented camp includes a spacious mess tent and fully furnished, comfortable sleeping tents.

Solar lamps are provided in each tent with hurricane lamps outside at night time.
Each tent has its own Short drop loo and hot safari bucket showers are always available.

Towels, environmentally friendly soap, shampoo and conditioner are provided, Hot water in a safari basin is brought to the tent first thing in the morning and after every ride.

Laundry is done and ironed in camp and riding boots are polished, along with small touches of finding a hot water bottle in your bed your camp soon becomes home over the days that guests spend with us.

All our food is fresh and we provide English breakfasts, light lunches and 3-course dinners. We often have picnics and eat in the open air if the weather is good. We carry ice cubes and are self-sufficient for the whole safari. Bread is baked daily on open fires and our chefs are extremely good. All house wines, beers and spirits are included, except Champagne.
