Porini Mara Camp

The multi award-winning Porini Mara Camp is located within the exclusive 17,500 acre Ol Kinyei Conservancy. Porini guests benefit from exclusive use of Ol Kinyei for exhilarating game drives plus drives within the neighbouring Naboisho Conservancy and the Maasai Mara Reserve.

The conservancies form one of the most beautiful areas of the Mara region - this is untouched wilderness, off-the-beaten-track and with few (if any) other tourist vehicles spoiling the view. The open plains, forests, streams and rivers are home to an abundance of wildlife including resident lions, cheetahs and leopards.

Guests receive a unique back-to-nature “bush experience” without compromising on quality and comfort. With the number of guests within the camp limited to a maximum of 12, Porini Mara ensures a truly exclusive wilderness experience. Game drives are in 4x4 safari vehicles with expert trackers and friendly qualified guides who are eager for guests to receive the very best possible game-viewing.

Porini Mara Camp is run with an eco-friendly and socially-responsible ethos. The camp has minimum impact on the environment and uses eco-friendly fuel. Ol Kinyei Conservancy is owned by the local Maasai community and the camp is operated with the objective of creating income for them through employment and the leasing of land. Although located in Ol Kinyei, Porini Camps is also a Tourism Partner in the Mara Naboisho Conservancy, contributing its share to the lease and conservancy operating costs.

The Ol Kinyei conservancy was set up in 2005 to provide a high quality client experience away from the crowds, significant benefits to the community via monthly payments to over 171 landowners and employment to over 40 members from the community and create a protected area for wildlife including the big cats. This was the first wildlife conservancy of its kind and one that served as a model for the many other successful ones that were formed later.
